My Quest For Biryani!

It was a friday evening when nothing else would satisfy my appetite other than this mouth watering dish - biryani.....Ma said that she would make a preparation of chicken-curry/manchurian...but I seemed to imagine nothing except me having biryani for dinner that night.....so she said that if u must then bring 2 plates ....coz my eagerness for the dish had begun to show its effect!

Off I rode on my bike....was feeling so energized by the thought of the refreshing taste......I was so engrossed in the thought that took a the wrong turn instead of heading straight.....no worries.....came back to the correct route and finally reached my biryani destination....the Lokenath fast food corner.......to my astonishment, when I asked the vendor to pack two plates of chicken biryani....he said "Khatam"....I just could'nt believe my ears......how could it be possible?Earlier I had bought food from this same place at the same time(9:15 pm)......But nothing could be done now......But that could not make me go back.....I refused to give up....off I rode on my gladiator towards an unknown destination ahead because I had never gone beyond this place.... By now I was a long way from home....so what? I thought....today I would return home only with biryani....... Speeding ahead....i saw a railway crossing....at the left I saw another fast food stall.....prayerfully I kept searching for the "biryani" text on the banners placed over there.....noodles,roll,momo,chili chicken,.....aah "biryani" got you now my love!!! Please pack 2 plates of chicken biryani for me....."Biryani Shesh(bengali) - Biryani over" came the reply...... how peculiar....is EVERYONE running after my beloved today???.... "Move on" said my inner voice....now I approached a flyover....the neighbourhood road had now come to an end....I saw two shops opposite to each other....The right shop had banners with the words-south indian, north indian,chinese,biryani...... now there was a ray of hope..... but no.... same answer again..... To the left was a mini restaurant with no banners like chinese, north indian,etc... But whats the harm in asking?... Biryani ache(biryani available)? this time was asked a question in return....do you want chicken biryani?.....yes.....ok...we have but you need to wait for around 15 minutes...is that OK?....Sure thing.....I WILL.....I could wait for an hour even.......So my quest was finally successful u see :) ......
Only 2 plates of biryani was available.....LUCKY ME!.....I settled down to sit and watch the first IPL match being played - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Deccan Chargers ......

After a while my eyes sparkled when I saw the biryani vessel being emptied to fill up 2 boxes full of biryani! He carefully picked up each piece of rice to make sure the parcel was hefty enough!....After payment I drove off fast homewards for a mouthful biryani dinner!!!!!This night was really memorable and hence is now residing in my blog!!!

Two Brothers

Kumal and Songa - Two Brothers is a heart touching movie about two tiger brother cubs who get separated from their parents and each other. Its a beautiful story about the adventures of Kumal and Songa. A story about the survival of two poor little tiger cubs..facing the cruel and torturous behaviour of humans....but there are some good people too who became their friends...

Click on the pic for an enlarged view of the movie poster....

Here is the movie trailer...

Their reunion is really awesome though!...

All the clips of the tiger cub in the promotional ad from aircel to save tigers have been taken from the movie itself....

If you love tigers then don't miss to watch this marvelous movie!....

Save Them

The first time I saw those fiery eyes as a kid , I was frightened yet fascinated by the beautiful, bold and graceful look of our national animal....its a pity that just 1411 are left in our country....which I just can't believe!!! I remember the first time I visited the Alipur zoo at Kolkata, I was overjoyed when I first saw the bold beast walking with his head held high behind the protected borderline..... I tried a lot mimicking a weird sound it made it was like “uuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmph” like a brachiosaurus dinosaur..... not at all like a growling sound but something else meaning a call or something......when I mimicked him exactly , to my astonishment,....he looked back and kept staring at me.....after a while his attention caught something else.....But I was not done yet.....I made that sound again.....he looked back again!!!wow!!!that was really cool....but I HAVE to say that he looked really powerful!!!ONE TIGHT SLAP could blow someone's head off!!!.. ..

Not very long back I visited the Nandan Kanan zoo also. Nandan Kanan acquired its first tiger in 1964 and the first open air tiger-enclosure now known as the 'Kanan' enclosure was constructed in 1967 when Kanan, a tigress from the adjoining Chandaka forests (now a sanctuary), jumped into one of the tiger enclosures and remained in captivity. She was in love with one of the captive tigers(Nandan)!!!(See tigers are romantic too!!!) She lived and died in the same enclosure after spending and seeing her cubs and cub’s cubs grow! Hence the name “Nandan-Kanan” Zoo!!Beautiful Isn't It?.........

But its sad that we are gradually losing them....1411 is a very very small number for a vast country like India.....What can we do to ensure that they do not become extinct in our country??....How can poaching be prevented??...Please lets join our hands together to reverse the process of tiger count reduction-lets help spread the word and populate our country's forests with our beloved national animal species once again as before...........

The Dustbin in The Station Waiting Room...

We were getting irritated by the news of the late coming train. Had to move in to the waiting room to sit and wait for the train.....

After few minutes of waiting got up and had pepsi my can from the nearby stall.....

Waiting resumed.......

I caught a glimpse of a dustbin being treated as a wash basin....with people not only thowing garbage but also spitting on it.........

Same was the case with remaining dustbins in the waiting room....

After few minutes i saw something which was nasty yet pitiable.......

A beggar of about 45-46 years of age came over to that bin and kept looking into it hoping for some tidbits of leftover food which was inside......

To my disgust the fellow put his hand completely inside the dustbin to take out his discovery...

That scene was really pitiful and heart touching.....Hunger is such a thing which can make someone do anything!.....

This incident made me sad for quite sometime......but need to accept.......this is the condition of today's beggar.......simply begging is not enough.....other options are required to survive......

So is there no difference between a human being and a stray dog.....this is really pathetic!......
