Save Them

The first time I saw those fiery eyes as a kid , I was frightened yet fascinated by the beautiful, bold and graceful look of our national animal....its a pity that just 1411 are left in our country....which I just can't believe!!! I remember the first time I visited the Alipur zoo at Kolkata, I was overjoyed when I first saw the bold beast walking with his head held high behind the protected borderline..... I tried a lot mimicking a weird sound it made it was like “uuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmph” like a brachiosaurus dinosaur..... not at all like a growling sound but something else meaning a call or something......when I mimicked him exactly , to my astonishment,....he looked back and kept staring at me.....after a while his attention caught something else.....But I was not done yet.....I made that sound again.....he looked back again!!!wow!!!that was really cool....but I HAVE to say that he looked really powerful!!!ONE TIGHT SLAP could blow someone's head off!!!.. ..

Not very long back I visited the Nandan Kanan zoo also. Nandan Kanan acquired its first tiger in 1964 and the first open air tiger-enclosure now known as the 'Kanan' enclosure was constructed in 1967 when Kanan, a tigress from the adjoining Chandaka forests (now a sanctuary), jumped into one of the tiger enclosures and remained in captivity. She was in love with one of the captive tigers(Nandan)!!!(See tigers are romantic too!!!) She lived and died in the same enclosure after spending and seeing her cubs and cub’s cubs grow! Hence the name “Nandan-Kanan” Zoo!!Beautiful Isn't It?.........

But its sad that we are gradually losing them....1411 is a very very small number for a vast country like India.....What can we do to ensure that they do not become extinct in our country??....How can poaching be prevented??...Please lets join our hands together to reverse the process of tiger count reduction-lets help spread the word and populate our country's forests with our beloved national animal species once again as before...........
